1968: this was a year of politicaltragedy and cultural triumphs. America lost two of its beloved leaders - Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King. In Vietnam, the Tet Offensive exploded and hastened the end of America's involvement in the war. The Age of Aquarius dawned on Broadway and Stanley Kubric's @001: A Space Odyssey came to the screen. The year brought us the waterbed, the Queen Elizabeth II cruise liner and the U.S. Tennis Open, as well as the dazzling Olympic performances of Jean Claude Killy and Peggy Fleming. For 1968, Chevrolet brought the Camaro around for its second year. The "sophmore" year Camaro featured many of the features of the debut model plus new rear and front side marker lights and ventless glass. The 1968 Chevy Camaro was available with a wide array of power options from a 140 horsepower "Turbo Thrift" six-cylinder engine to a 375 horsepower L78 Turbo-Jet 396. The '68 Camaro was a boldly handsome looking car that stood out among the cars of that era.
